Scout Post is a scheme that offers the public of Cardiff and most parts of the Vale of Glamorgan an opportunity to send Christmas Cards at a fraction of the cost of other postal services. It has been in operation for over 35 years and was the ‘brainchild’ of a group in Roath. Some 500,000 cards are usually hand sorted and delivered by our members and volunteers but for the second year running the Scout post has been cancelled.
Julian Jordan, Area Commissioner for Cardiff and Vale Scouts said:
“We have concerns for our Scout Groups and volunteers being able to sort and deliver the post so have made the decision not to run the scheme this year. Scout Post brings in around £150k each year to support Scouting in our 50+ groups with 4,000 members. This needed income helps to run our adventurous programme and the upkeep of our buildings and transport.”
With Scout Post not taking place this year, we are calling on the public to help us with fundraising so that our groups are able to continue to carry out the excellent work they do. Please share our posts on social media and if possible, make a donation via https://localgiving.org/appeal/Scoutpost2021/ where you can specify a group for your donation to be allocated to.
On behalf of Cardiff and Vale Scouts we would like to thank all those that have supported Scout Post over the years and to make it the success it is.
Scout Post 2022
To ensure the scheme can run next year we need additional support to help cover some areas across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Could your organisation or group do with a boost in income?
We have a number of ways for a group or organisation to get involved:
a) Sell, Main Sort, Own Area Sort and Deliver
b) Own Area Sort and Deliver
c) Just Deliver
d) Some other way
