My name is Jo and I am the Events Officer for RSPB Cymru working on the Giving Nature a Home in Cardiff project. The project has been running for seven years and this year is our final year. In light of this we wanted to do something super special and memorable for some of the residents in Cardiff.
Every year in August the RSPB run the ‘Big Wild Sleepout Event’ on their reserves across the UK – this is aimed at families and essentially involves lots of fun nature activities, social time and overnight camping. However, in the past this opportunity has been limited to those who have the money and equipment to camp. This year we have managed to secure a small grant to cover the cost of the boats and offer the experience completely free of charge to families who, for various reasons, would not usually get the chance to take part.
The event is scheduled to take place on August 17th – 18th on Flatholm Island and we expect around 30 children and 18 adults. To make this event a success we would like to be able to provide camping equipment and food as part of the experience. Would you be able to support this cause and donate or loan anything from the list below? Please could you let us know by Tuesday 9th August. This will be the only holiday most of these children will have so we want to make it as magical as possible. Anything you can contribute will be greatly appreciated.
