JOTI background
Jota-Joti (Jamboree-on-the-Air-Jamboree-on-the-Internet) is the world’s largest digital Scout event taking place on the Internet and over the airwaves. Held every year in October, the event connects millions of young people around the world for a full weekend of online activities that promote friendship and global citizenship. JOTA-JOTI enables young people and volunteers to participate in fun and engaging group activities over the Internet and amateur radio focused on developing 21st century skills through Scouting. JOTA-JOTI 2022 took place from 14 to 16 October. The dynamic programme comprised a variety of non-formal education activities, including webinars, global campfires, talent shows, live shows, fun challenges and more through an interactive 3D campsite. JOTA-JOTI aims to support young people of all ages to learn about communications technology, the values of global citizenship, and their role in creating a better world. Keeping young people Safe from Harm online is a top priority in all our events. Through chat moderation, “listening ears”, e-learning courses and a number of sessions about how to be safe online, we make sure that all participants have a positive and safe JOTA-JOTI experience. JOTA-JOTI is one of World Scouting’s longest-running global events dating back more than 60 years to 1958. The digital educational event has seen steady annual growth in participation over the years and with a focus on the future aims to reach millions of more participants in the years to come.
Cardiff and Vale
For Scouts groups that do not have the experience or equipment to run JOTI, sessions will be run at The Hub and is open to all Scouting Sections. This will provide an opportunity not only to meet Scouts from around the world but also from the area. In previous years, when I have run JOTI, Cubs and Scouts have been invested online by Scout Leaders from other countries. It is a fantastic opportunity to learn how Scouting is done in other parts of the world.
Sessions will be open to individual Beavers/Cubs/Scouts/Explorers but if you would like to book a session for your section, please let me know.
If there are any leaders that would like to help run this, please let me know.
Kind regards,
