My name is Timna and I’m a member of the events team at National Museum Cardiff.
I’m getting in touch as I have an exciting proposition for you regarding our next Museum Sleepover: Dinos event that’s due to take place on 8th – 9th of March 2025.
As a one-time offer, we’re giving a substantial discount to Brownie and Beaver, Cub and Scout groups who are interested in attending this event as a group. We have decided to do this so we can pilot having large groups in attendance, to identify if this is something we can offer exclusively to groups in the future. This is an exclusive opportunity to experience what it’s like to spend a night at the Museum – we have a jam packed programme planned, with activities such as a torch lit tour with a Museum palaeontologist, a film screening in our Theatre space, a unique Dinomania show and a chance to meet some animatronic dinosaurs, and much more.
We would like to offer your group a 30% discount on the Main Hall camp tickets (tickets here are usually priced at £70 per person). This discount applies to everyone in attendance (children and group leaders).
To enable us to offer this discount, we’ve blocked all 120 main hall tickets off sale to the general public. We are hoping to fill these spaces with Brownies, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, and other like-minded groups, and we are offering this discount to various groups on a first come, first served basis.
There are a couple of things note:
- We have already sold 30 general public tickets for this event, and these are our VIP guests. They will have separate sleeping arrangements to you, as they’ll be sleeping in the VIP camp in the galleries. You may see them around during the event during the various activities, but they’ll be chaperoned by their museum group leader. These are families with children aged 6-12 years of age. They will have access to the same toilet facilities as you, but we can put provisions in place such as ensuring the toilets are completely empty before your group uses them, if need be (as an example).
- The event is aimed at children aged between 6-12 years of age.
- There may be other Brownies, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts present and will also be sleeping in the Main hall.
- There will be members of Museum staff working the event from start to finish. We have a rotating shift pattern for this event, and there will always at least one member of staff near or inside the Main Hall throughout the evening once lights are switched off for bedtime.
- We have shift security teams working through the night who do their usual night checks around the galleries, and we have cameras in various locations for health and safety and security purposes.
- We can provide our risk assessment to you should you need this to make the group booking.
- Our ticketing team would process the group booking over the phone for you. We’d need to collect specific information (such as dietary requirements and medical conditions etc.) during booking, so we’d need you to collate this information for every person in your team – children and adults.
If this is something you’d be interested in, and/or would like further information, please do let me know. We are hoping to start booking groups as soon as possible, so if you are interested, we recommend getting in touch with us fairly quickly as the tickets will be available on a first come, first served basis.
Looking forward to hearing from you, and hopefully having your group present at our next event!
Diolch yn fawr,
Timna
